Architect | Senior Associate
AIA, NOMA, NCARB, LEED Green Associate Whitley Stephens is an Architect and Senior Associate at Populous in Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Stephens has been contributing her time and talent to numerous award-winning projects since earning a Master of Architecture Degree and Minor in Leadership Studies in 2011 from Kansas State University. Her project work encompasses pre-design, design and construction documentation, construction administration services, and more for projects ranging from renovation, to adaptive reuse, to greenfield construction. These projects have had a tremendous impact on the communities and organizations for which they were completed. In addition to her architectural work, She has also been a key leader in the Kansas City design community whose mission is to acknowledge, support and promote the need for increased equity, diversity, and inclusion within the design profession. As the 2021 Emerging Professional Director of the American Institute of Architects Kansas City Mrs. Stephens has expanded her passion for engaging with and being a voice for students and young professionals in the design industry. She enjoys speaking with and encouraging young aspiring designers to pursue future careers in architecture and design related fields. Through her participation in organizations such as the American Institute of Architects, Kansas City Chapter Education Outreach Program and Urban (TEC) Technology Empowered Communities Mentorship Program she has interacted with countless youth over the years and exposed them to careers in architecture and design related fields. Mrs. Stephens is thrilled to be a part of the future of architecture and design as well as an advocate for youth and young professionals through her profession and volunteerism.
